STG ties up with PresNet to offer easy admission to US Universities
First step in repositioning itself as Total Education Company
New Delhi, India - (January 2002) Software Technology Group (STG), the leading global IT Services Company today announced a strategic alliance with Student Recruitment Consortium of the Presidents' Network (PresNet) of USA to help Indian students seeking admission in US Universities for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Under this programme, a student needs to submit only one application for any of the 56 Universities that come under the Presidents' Network (PresNet). The student will have to pay one time processing fee with no additional cost for mailing postage, separate university fee, etc. The programme will initially be launched through STG centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
"STG is planning to reposition itself from just being a Computer Training Organization to a Total Education Company and this strategic alliance with PresNet is the first step towards this effort." said Dr. Suresh Nanda, CEO Software Technology Group. "We aim to provide complete career guidance to our students rather than counseling them for just one area. This effort is in line with our constant endeavor to provide the best of education globally." further added Dr. Nanda.
A student wishing to study in US now just needs to go to the STG center and based on his priority will fill up a common admission form with the guidance of the STG Counselor. The application with all required attachments thereafter will be forwarded to the PresNet office in South Carolina,USA who in turn will process the applications, handle correspondence, file preparation, translations of credential evaluation, and criteria screening. At the conclusion of the process, PresNet forwards the files of those students who meet the criteria for acceptance at the institution. Students who don't meet the eligibility criteria of the institution of their choice are, then, offered the option to attend other institutions where they may better qualify for admission.
This information would be sent back to the STG centre within two weeks of the submission of completed application. Then a student will have to decide and give his/her priority for the university from among the list of universities for which he/she is eligible allowing him/her to make an educated choice. Once the choice is made the credentials, translated into English and evaluated to ascertain their credibility, are forwarded to the institution of choice for acceptance and I-20 and admissions packet processing. The whole process will take four to six months after the submission of completed application along with the processing fee to the STG center.
Commenting on the strategic relationship, Dr. Mark Hopkins, Executive Director of Presidents' Network of US, said, "PresNet has a network with 91colleges and universities representing 34 states in US. For several years the organization has been instrumental in providing access for international students to institutions in the US. The alliance between STG and PresNet will greatly increase access to US Universities for Indian students." "With the large number of potential students in India it was necessary to create a network to reach out to students seeking admission in US universities. STG with its presence in 8 countries and a vast network of offices all over India would provide access of students to PresNet. Moreover, PresNet will also get the resources of STG to expedite the whole process," Dr. Hopkins further added.
