21st century tuition centres enter India with STG

MindPower tuition centers will offer computer-aided learning for high school students cramming for examinations

New Delhi, March 2002: Tuition centres, currently little more than poky rooms, with a few benches and a blackboard are set to go high tech with the advent of STG's MindPower Tuition Centres. The company announced today that it has entered into an exclusive partnership with Bangalore based Edurite Technologies to introduce state-of-the-art, computer aided tuition centres for high school students in Classes IX-XII.

To be launched simultaneously in 15 states, STG expects 500 centers to be functional nationwide by the end of the academic year starting April 2002. Phase 1 of the roll out will see MindPower centres in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, and Karnataka. Phase 2, which is slated, for completion by March 2003 will extend MindPower to Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

While STG will provide infrastructure and personnel for each centre, Edurite will act as the content partner and will develop the learning solutions on CDs in accordance with CBSE, ICSE and state board curriculum.

Speaking on the new initiative, Mr. Yogesh Vaidya, Chairman STG said, "Today education has become such a competitive field that even the school results play a significant role in deciding an individuals future. However the models of learning have undergone a radical change, STG offers individuals an opportunity to maximize their learning experience by using computer-aided solutions. MindPower centres will not only revolutionalise the education system but will also give the student that special competitive edge."

At the STG MindPower Centre, students will go through many things beyond just the theory. Classes are designed in such a way that computer aids assist students in understanding the concepts in a fun filled way. Devices like audio-video clips, visual graphics and high quality animation will be used to help students grasp difficult concepts easily. This kind of education will sharpen their knowledge skills and ensure that they excel in their examination.

Speaking on the tie-up with STG, Mr. Aditya Gupta, Regional Director,Edurite Technologies said, "We are happy to partner STG as they step forward to modify the education support system with the launch of MindPower centres.The educational CD's stress on fun filled, constructive, structured and concise learning. They provide a holistic approach to education in addition to the textbooks being used by students."
